On Sep 29,, there was an explosion and fire at Nippon Shokubai's [of Japan] superabsorbent polymer manufacturing facility, resulting in an outage that has taken down about 10% of the world's acrylic acid and 18% of the world's superabsorbent polymer capacity.

There are reports have suggested that the operations at the plant are likely to be out of order for a lengthy period of time.

As supply for both commodities was already tight on a global basis, we believe prices for both commodities are likely to rise.
